There are two phases to frozen shoulder home exercises: stretching exercises and a regular exercise program. The stretching exercises will be the most important in relieving symptoms of frozen shoulder; a regular exercise program will be important in preventing or minimizing a recurrence of the problem.
When doing the stretching exercises, the unaffected arm is often called the therapist arm because it is crucial to stretching the shoulder properly. There are seven different stretching exercises that should be performed. Each one should be held for a count of 100.
When lying down, lift the arm over the head.
When sitting, lift the arm over the head.
Using a pulley, raise the arm over the head.
When lying down, rotate the arm.
When standing up, rotate the arm.
Reaching behind the back with the arm.
Pull the arm across the front of the body.
One important thing to remember is that you must allow the muscles in the shoulder joint to relax if you wish to achieve effective stretching during your frozen shoulder home exercise routine. Repeat this routine three times per day.
