Common Rotator Cuff Symptoms

The rotator cuff is the tendons and muscles that surround the shoulder joint. It provides the total range of motion to the shoulder. When pain occurs in the shoulder, sometimes it is due to rotator cuff tears. Most tears occur in the dominant arm and is found most often in men over the age of 40. Rotator cuff symptoms include -
· Pain and weakness in the shoulder – Doing small things like combing your hair, reaching overhead or tucking in a shirt can become difficult if a tear occurs. Sleeping can become difficult.
· With rotator cuff symptoms, the pain will occur on the side and front of the upper arm and shoulder, making it hard to sleep on that side at times. The pain can vary from being uncomfortable with use to being extreme pain that is continuous. Most times, lifting the arm above the shoulder will be painful.
